These products from August, Canary, Withings, Kuna, D-Link, Ring & others will be next to gain support for Apple’s HomeKit in the coming months.

It wasn’t too long ago that I was recommending the average person stay away from investing in HomeKit until Apple’s home automation platform matures to get full fledged support both on Apple’s devices and from the accessory makers themselves. That’s about to change quite a bit with iOS 10 (alongside tvOS 10, watchOS 3, and macOS 10.12 Sierra) when those releases bring some big new features and improvements to HomeKit that make it look finally ready for prime time.

As far as accessories go, support for new types of home products means you’re about to see a whole lot of new camera accessories like doorbell and security cameras, and air treatment accessories such as air conditioners, heaters, air purifiers, and humidifiers, adding support for HomeKit.

Some of the products on our list below were briefly shown during a slide at Apple’s event, and others have since confirmed support for HomeKit will arrive in separate announcements. We’ll be adding more as others surely announce leading up to the release of iOS 10 with iPhone 7 this fall.

This is Apple’s current list of partners committed to supporting HomeKit as of this year’s WWDC last week:

And once iOS 10 arrives, you’ll be able to control these products not only via Siri on your iPhone like before, but also with Apple’s new Home app on iOS 10, the Siri Remote on Apple TV, and Apple Watch with watchOS 3.

We also detailed how iOS 10 promotes iPad to a HomeKit remote access device like Apple TV, meaning you’ll now be able to use an iPad connected to your home network as a relay for controlling HomeKit accessories from our iPhone when off your network. If you happen to have multiple iPads and Apple TVs connected to your network at home, they’ll now work together to expand your HomeKit network and improve reliability of your connection to accessories.
