Gee willikers! Can this meathead dad raise a moody daughter, save humanity, AND bed a bunch of hot broads at the same time? Whatever happens, it’s sure to be a hoot. #AshvsEvilDead pic.twitter.com/azOvpeg8HX— Ash vs Evil Dead (@AshvsEvilDead) February 20, 2018

Ash vs. Evil Dead is teasing the kickoff of season 3 of series with a 1970s sitcom-style trailer. After slaying oodles of nasty Deadites with variety of weapons (and audiences with laughter) in seasons 1 and 2 of the uproarious horror comedy series, Ash vs. Evil Dead is coming back to Starz this Sunday night to kick off its hotly anticipated third season. The series, of course, is the long-awaited bookend to the director Sam Raimi, producer Rob Tapert and star Bruce Campbell’s classic Evil Dead horror film trilogy, which wrapped up 25 years ago with the release of Army of Darkness.

Due to a huge demand for more Ash in the ensuing years, though, the Evil Dead trio finally found a way to bring back the chainsaw-handed, boomstick-wielding antihero in the best way possible: through a half-hour series that would expand the mythology of the story and keep it’s scary foundation and bloody great humor intact. Introducing the characters of Kelly Maxwell (Dana DeLorenzo) and Pablo Bolivar (Ray Santiago) to the Evil Dead madness as Ash’s new allies, and Ruby (Lucy Lawless) as their nemesis, the show was a hit out of the gate and immediately picked up for a second season. Now, after 20 episodes of blood, guts, gore, horror and lots of laughs, Ash vs. Evil Dead is ready to introduce the first of 10 new episodes for season 3, and the show is getting inventive in attracting viewers in the days before the premiere.

In a new, minute-long trailer released Tuesday, Ash vs. Evil Dead teases the upcoming season with footage from the show, yet set to groovy (what else?), ’70s-style sitcom music. A tweet revealing the trailer sets it all up, saying, “Gee willikers! Can this meathead dad raise a moody daughter, save humanity, AND bed a bunch of hot broads at the same time? Whatever happens, it’s sure to be a hoot.” You can watch the trailer in the section above.

Even though the footage from the show is new, there’s no question that the music, along with the combination of the title treatment and screen wipes, definitely gives Ash vs. Evil Dead a definitive ’70s sitcom feel. Each of the show’s stars - Campbell, DeLorenzo, Santiago and Lawless - are introduced sitcom-style, along with this season’s new cast member, Arielle Carver-O’Neill, who plays Brandy, the daughter Ash never knew he had; and Lindsay Farris as Dalton, a member of a secret order who joins Ash, Kelly and Pablo in their fight against evil.

The retro trailer for Ash vs. Evil Dead has everything everything fans could hope for, including some blood,  suspense and boomstick action, as well as the charm of the characters that makes the series such a joy to watch. Ultimately, it’s wonderful throwback trailer that shows a very promising future for the show as it enters its next gloriously gory season.

Ash vs. Evil Dead season 3 premieres Sunday, February 25 on Starz.
