New concept art for Justice League has been unveiled at the DC Comics Art Exhibition. Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), The Flash (Ezra Miller) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher) are all set to join forces for the first time in just a couple of months to stop the villainous alien Steppenwolf and his army of Parademons.
In November, the DCEU’s epic team-up arrives, and so Warner Bros. are kicking things up a gear when it comes to marketing. From the release of a four-minute trailer at last month’s San Diego Comic-Con, there’s been a slew of revealed merchandise and posters. But they’re not just doing the same old tricks.
The DC Comics Art Exhibition at Art Ludique in Paris currently houses several concept artworks from the storied comic book history of DC. But one particular piece has clearly stolen the show: a drawing of all of the six DCEU Justice League members created by artist Craig Mullins. The image has been shared by several vistors and can be seen below.
At first glance, everyone appears to be similar to their big screen counterparts. But a closer look will reveal some significant changes done in their fight suits especially with Aquaman. The King of the Seven Seas is set to be brought to life by Jason Momoa and based on the promo images we have seen of the character thus far, his suit looks to have a more subtle color palette than what the comics have for his character. Mullins’ iteration, however, didn’t shy away from the bright colors and went for a more classic orange/yellow/green scheme.
Other notable differences include Batman’s tactical suit having more of a silver-gray coloring than an all-black garb. Cyborg’s costume, on the other hand, appears to be less bulky especially on the shoulders with a sleeker and streamlined battle armor.
Justice League is still finishing up with reshoots with Joss Whedon following original director Zack Snyder’s departure due to a family tragedy. This has led to speculation about how the tone and story of the movie will be altered, although the stars of the film, most recently Gal Gadot, have been keen to downplay the impact of these reshoots. We’ll likely get a taste of what’s really gone on in November.
