The CW released a photo of Clark Kent (Tyler Hoechlin) and Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch) together in the upcoming Arrowverse “Elseworlds” crossover. This comes a week after the network dropped a promotional photo of Superman and Lois Lane, which appears to take place in the Fortress of Solitude. Clues about what this year’s crossover will have in store for Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl are still rolling in as fans await the introduction of several iconic DC characters, including Lois Lane and Kate Kane/Batwoman (Ruby Rose).
Images and trailers leading up to the Arrovverse “Elseworlds” crossover aren’t just introducing alternate versions of the show’s superheroes, but new characters in general. Oliver Queen (Stepehen Amell) appears to have taken on a life as The Flash with Iris West, Barry Allan (Grant Gustin) is now the Green Arrow and training with with Spartan (David Ramsey), though neither of them appear comfortable with the situation, and Clark Kent was seen filming as a black-suited Superman. Now, fans can see the first official look at Lois Lane on set on the Kent Farm.
EW released an image of Clark and Lois mid-conversation on the Kent Farm in the upcoming Arrowverse crossover. The two are standing in front of a vintage pickup truck, which Kara Danvers/Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) appears to be working on. Incidentally, this is the same location that was used as the Kent Farm in the former CW series Smallville, which is based on younger characters within the Superman universe.
With the “Elseworlds” premiere date edging closer and closer, Benoist spoke with EW about the crossover, pointing out that it will feature one of the most popular love stories in comic book history, bringing its star-crossed lovers down to Earth. She explained that the set during this moment in the crossover was pure “Americana,” adding, “we should’ve been eating apple pie and waving American flags.” Then, bringing the focus back to Clark and Lois’ relationship, she explained that Hoechlin and Tulloch “totally embraced it.”
The three actors were previously seen on the set of the Kent Farm during production, so fans were already well aware that these characters would be reuniting at Clark’s childhood home. What’s more is that Lois’ inclusion may even have a positive effect on Kara. In the past, Kara has struggled to maintain the sort of balanced life that Clark seems to have perfected. So, seeing them together may turn out to positively affect one of her more emotional character arcs, which Supergirl fans may see develop in future seasons and appearances.
Arrowverse “Elseworlds” begins with The Flash on Sunday, December 9, followed by Arrow on Monday, December 10, and ends with Supergirl on Tuesday, December 11. All episodes air at 8 p.m. EST.
