Stephen Amell thinks Arrow would beat The Flash at hockey, and he’s got the photos to prove it. As the first two series in The CW’s popular Arrowverse, Arrow and The Flash have gone head-to-head several times over the years, most notably in 2014’s Flash vs Arrow crossover event. However, the heroes of the two shows, Oliver Queen and Barry Allen, have joined forces to save the world far more often than they’ve fought. They’ll do it again next month for the highly anticipated Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover, which will also feature characters from Supergirl, Batwoman, Legends of Tomorrow, and Black Lightning.
Crisis on Infinite Earths will air for three hours in December before concluding with two episodes in January. It will show the superheroes teaming up to stop the villainous Anti-Monitor from destroying the multiverse. The crossover will also feature a number of guest stars, including Kevin Conroy of Batman: The Animated Series and Burt Ward, who’s played Batman’s sidekick Robin many times over the years. Ward’s role in Crisis on Infinite Earths hasn’t been confirmed, but fans spotted him wearing Robin’s colors on set. Meanwhile, Conroy will play “Bruce Wayne from the future,” with many speculating that he’ll be paired with Ward’s Robin.
This week, Amell took to Twitter to share two photos celebrating the end of Arrow, which will conclude its eighth and final season early next year. Amell captioned his first photo “I went for it on the wrap gift.” In it, the Arrow logo is seen on the jumbotron in Rogers Arena, which Amell gained access to for the occasion. His second photo shows the final scoreboard, with Team Arrow beating Team Flash 6-4 and cast and crew from both shows posing on the ice. Despite Arrow’s approaching series finale, Amell isn’t ruling out a return to the Arrowverse at some point in the future. This past May, Amell said, “I owe so much to them. So, if five years from now they’re wrapping up Show X and they were like, ‘You know what would be the cherry on top of the sundae? Would you come back?’ What am I going to say? No?” Whether he could return as present-day Oliver Queen remains to be seen, as his death in Crisis on Infinite Earths has been a huge part of Arrow’s final season. However, with Barry Allen’s death foreshadowed as well, it’s possible both heroes make it through the Crisis and live to fight another day.
Though Amell’s photos don’t actually give fans any insight into who would win a fight between the Green Arrow and The Flash, it’s fun to see both shows celebrating the end of Arrow. As the flagship series, it’s shaped the Arrowverse into the success it is today. With the debut of Batwoman this season, plus two different spinoff series in contention for next year, it’s clear that the Arrowverse isn’t slowing down. Even once Arrow goes off the air, its presence will be felt for many years to come.
