The CW has released the Green Arrow and the Canaries backdoor pilot synopsis, revealing Mia has made a change to her name. Returning in under two weeks, Arrow is entering its final phase of episodes. Currently, the characters are engaged in Crisis on Infinite Earths, in which Oliver Queen is returning, but as “something else.”

Without Arrow, there never would have been an Arrowverse. Launching nearly eight years ago, Arrow focuses on Oliver Queen, a man on a mission. As the show went on, new characters were introduced. Arrow is no stranger to introducing characters who would get their own shows. In season 2, Barry Allen appeared, and later received his own starring show in The Flash. Ray Palmer and Sara Lance would go on to headline Legends of Tomorrow. As Arrow comes to a close, a new show is coming starring Mia Smoak. Mia was introduced in season 7 as Oliver’s daughter from the future. Although having an edge, she has become more heroic after meeting William. In Crisis on Infinite Earths, Oliver gave Mia her own Green Arrow suit. Fans have been looking forward to Green Arrow and the Canaries, and now the backdoor pilot synopsis has been revealed.

Arrow’s penultimate episode on January 21 will serve as the backdoor pilot for Green Arrow and the Canaries. The CW recently released the official plot synopsis (via TVLine), revealing Mia Smoak has changed her last name to Queen. Check it out below.

As for what Laurel and Dinah are up to, the rest of the description says these canaries are “tracking a kidnapping victim with direct ties to Mia and they need her help.” The final part says Mia “can’t help but be a hero,” and she suits up with Laurel and Dinah “once again to save the city.” As for potential antagonists, it was confirmed back in November that Charlie Barnett will appear. Barnett has played adult J.J. Diggle/Deathstroke in the 2040 timeline.

“It’s the year 2040 in Star City and Mia Queen has everything she could have ever wanted. However, when Laurel and Dinah suddenly show up in her life again, things take a shocking turn and her perfect world is upended.”

It is going to be a very interesting month for Arrow fans. If Oliver Queen is indeed becoming the Spectre, that could lead to some big things for Crisis on Infinite Earths, and the show’s finale. A number of fans would probably agree this would be a quality sendoff for Oliver, just as Mia Queen continues the legacy of the Green Arrow. Of course, there are still plenty of things that could happen between Crisis on Infinite Earths and the finale, so fans will have to wait and see.
